Flexi Hoses

We have them all over our houses and places of work!  They are easy to miss unless you are specifically looking for them.  They are used to connect your toilets and taps to the water supply.  They might be in the cabinetry or exposed.

They are rubber hoses that are surrounded by braided lengths of stainless steel.

Flexi hoses generally last between 5 and 10 years.  It is recommended that they are checked every year by your licensed Plumber.  If you are a Fantastic Plumbing client we will provide you with a complimentary plumbing inspection when we are completing other jobs at your home or office.  Replacing the flexi hoses are very inexpensive if managed proactively.

There are new flexi hoses on the market now with a 15-year warranty, so we are providing these to our clients to ensure the longevity of the product.

If they do their job you never have to worry about them.  We started looking closely at our emergency jobs over the last few months and a burst flexi hose keeps coming up as the reason for a call to us after hours.  We are a 24/7 company and we can gladly assist you if this emergency arises but if you have time to do a little audit you can avoid this hassle, expense and potential damage to your flooring and cabinetry.

To avoid a burst flexi hose at your place we recommend some housekeeping at yours

• Check on the warranty (at Fantastic Plumbing it is 15yrs)
• Only use a qualified Plumber to install flexi hoses
• Regularly check them for rust, fraying or bulging
• Replace them if in doubt
• Teach everyone at your place how to turn off the water in case of an emergency
• If you are going away on holidays turn off the water
